Cellist, PAUL BRANTLEY, is also a Composer and Conductor whose music making can be heard across a great many genres and styles. In addition to composing for orchestras and chamber ensembles, he has performed as solo cellist with Trey Anastasio, played with the Jeff Coffin Mutet, recorded for Béla Fleck and James Morrison, toured with Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, gigged with Chester Thompson, produced for and co-composed with Royel "Futureman" Wooten (of the Flecktones), conducted for David Binney, and arranged for Ethel, Todd Rundgren, and Christian Scott. His solo cello playing can be heard on the Sony/Columbia, Polydor, Warner Brothers, Rounder, and Compass labels. His own music is published by Bill Holab Music and Oxford University Press. Paul has received numerous fellowships from The MacDowell Colony and the Banff Centre, has given a composition seminar at Yale, and is presently composing a commissioned "Community Symphony" for the Memphis Symphony Orchestra to commemorate Martin Luther King Jr. and the impact his assassination has had on the city of Memphis.
